Illustrated Talk: “Reger – The Romantic Bach?”

Description:

Illustrated Talk by Bruce Cash to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Max Reger (1873 – 1916)

Reger was a highly significant composer of all kinds of classical music and is remembered nowadays particularly for his organ music. Many of his major organ works were premiered by his friend Karl Straube (1873 – 1950).

Bruce Cash is an Enkelschüler of Straube: He studied in Munich with Karl Richter, the last student of Straube, and has been playing Reger throughout his career. In 2016 (the Centenary of his death), he gave a number of organ recitals and talks on Reger, including in cathedrals in New Zealand.

You are warmly invited to attend this event on Tuesday, 26 September 2023. Feel free to pass this on to other friends and family interested in German culture, language and the interrelationships between New Zealand and the German-speaking world.
