Illustrated Talk by Wayne Moore

Description:

Illustrated Talk by Wayne Moore about 29 years competing in the iconic Nürburgring 24-Hour Race

Wayne Moore is an intrepid New Zealand race car driver who lives in Paekākāriki and grew up in Island Bay. He has also lived in Tonga, Western Samoa and Fiji and spent fourteen years in Australia.

Wayne is joining German team WS Racing based in Trier, driving his 30th 24-Hour Race in May on the iconic Nordschleife racetrack in the picturesque Eifel Mountains. This race attracts 800 drivers from over twenty countries, and aside from German nationals, no race driver in the world has competed more times in the event than Moore.

Factory teams from around the world dominate the front rows of this motor race and fiercely compete for glory with the adage ‘win on Sunday, sell on Monday’. Wayne drove with Volkswagen for seventeen years and, more recently, a Danish team before returning to a German operation. WS Racing ran four cars in 2023, and one was exclusively women standing tall in a male-dominated environment.

Moore currently works with Te Puni Kōkiri as Learning and Organisational Development Manager and has enjoyed a lifetime in private enterprise.

His Endless Race story is often described as a travelogue and will be a fascinating and highspeed night not to miss.

You are warmly invited to attend this event on Thursday, 4 April 2024. Feel free to pass this on to other friends and family interested in German culture, language and the interrelationships between New Zealand and the German-speaking world.
